Desert Trip 02/26/05

One day in the testing phase of Photomaphone, Silent G startled his naked roommate out of the shower in terror, having convinced her the fire alarm was going off.

"Peace now, roomie, its just me, the G, laying down some far-out funk."

Unamused.

So, some weeks later, when we received in invitation to "Steve's Place" (an anarchic desert compound hosting musicians for the weekend) we were thrilled. The shiteasters, like the Holy Spirit, are too much for most people to swallow. We longed to shatter the silence, pierce the darkness, and die a little.

Naturally there was all manner of alcohol and gasoline, but when the sun finally set and the full moon rose over the cold desert flats we summoned the airborne demons with a riotous 28 minute Photomaphone jam atop a mountain of boulders. There were immediate technical failures, but we persevered and came out with what might be our best performance yet. Long after our audience abandoned us, the logic and I lay in a panting heap with bleeding fists and the silent approval of the glowing moon.
